We are responding to communities around the nation as we face the COVID-19 national health crisis together. We are committed to increasing access to tools and resources to help navigate through these unprecedented times and take action for those who need it most. With the help of our Anthem Health Champion partners, we remain focused on improving lives through healthy, active lifestyles and making a lasting difference for children, families and communities.

For the second year in a row, our Anthem Health Champion program has been nominated for the Sports Humanitarian Award in the Corporate Community Impact category, which recognizes corporations that utilize their business platform and the power of sports to help advance a social issue, cause or community organization. As we have been responding to the needs of our communities, we have also put emphasis on the importance of wellbeing and mental health.

Anthem Health Champions, through their organizations and fundraising, have achieved remarkable social impact. Collectively, our AHC’s have donated more than $10.5 to improving the health in our communities, have helped more than 16 million kids have overcome childhood obesity through holistic health/wellness programs and have provided 500 cancer patients with transportation to medical/treatment appointments. They share the work Anthem and its Foundation are doing in the communities, where we have supported our neighbors in both good and challenging times.

During the month of May, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness, our Anthem Health Champions have been sharing words of advice and inspiration on how they are recharging through #MeMinutes as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact Americans. They have been lending their time and image to join with others committed to helping improve the lives and health across the U.S.

The world of sports brings together a community of athletes, humanitarians, and visionaries that have excelled physically and mentally, creating excitement and inspiration for all. Our Anthem Health Champions have dedicated their lives to making a positive impact to our most vulnerable populations, and continue to create social change through sports and other platforms. Together, we are creating a healthier generation of Americans.

Created in 2015, the program has recognized 15 renowned athletes including Billie Jean King, Michael Phelps, CC Sabathia, Eli Manning Glenn Robinson III, Jake Steinfeld and Victor Oladipo, whose philanthropic work exemplifies the commitment to increasing awareness, raising funds and supporting a wide variety of health programs to tackle the nation’s biggest health challenges. This year Tamika Catchings, WNBA Hall of Famer and GM of the Indiana Fever, has also been added to the Anthem Health Champions roster.
