Anthem Foundation awards 2018 Health Champion
Anthem Foundation honored Indiana Pacers player Glenn Robinson III (GRIII), at an evening reception on April 4 to celebrate Glenn’s commitment to helping create a healthier generation of Americans. The event brought together nonprofit and corporate partners as part of the Anthem Health Champion Campaign.
Launched in 2015, the Anthem Health Champion program is a public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the critical health issues facing our communities while raising volunteer and financial support for nonprofit organizations that are providing solutions. Anthem Foundation has joined forces with GRIII, an Indiana “hometown hero,” serving as a healthy role model and spokesperson to help promote the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Financial support for this campaign is being directed to local nonprofit beneficiaries including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis and the Fight For Life Foundation, a youth development organization founded by Indianapolis Colts star cornerback Marlin Jackson.
From starting every morning at the gym growing up, to becoming the 20l7 Slam Dunk Champion and star shooting guard for the Indiana Pacers, GRIII has dedicated his life to being a healthy role model, always bringing his best effort and helping those around him.
“Even more impressive than Glenn’s athletic ability, however, is his commitment to giving back to those in need,” said Jake Steinfeld, Anthem’s 2015 inaugural Health Champion and founder National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Council. “Every year Glenn goes home to host a fitness clinic for at risk youth and is committed to inspiring more young people to get active and involved with sports.”
Now, as an Anthem Health Champion, Glenn will lend his time and image to become an ambassador for youth health, encouraging others to join the movement and do their part.
“It’s truly an honor to be named an Anthem Health Champion, I’m so excited that together we are going to help the Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis and the Fight for Life Foundation get a whole lot of kids and families healthy and happy.” — Glenn Robinson III
Boys & Girls Clubs of America, United Way of Central Indiana, and CATCH Global Foundation were also recognized at the event for their impact on improving youth health. Together, with a collective $12 million in support from Anthem Foundation, these organizations have engaged over 15 million kids across the country!
